IK ZIE ALLEEN MAAR KLEUR (2019 - ONGOING)
Identity is always about representation. The photo series IK ZIE ALLEEN MAAR KLEUR breaks with the traces of the post-colonial image of the black body. The portraits focus on the pride and joy of the black identity. The image of blackness has often been
two-dimensional and full of tropes in both historical as present point of view. This representation is directly affecting the power dynamics in society. IK ZIE ALLEEN MAAR KLEUR is a project in which I, the photographer, am operating as an ally to these women and men I photograph. With this photo series I would like to contribute to a more positive representation of these black models who, in their own way, celebrate their blackness.
